I doubted a long time. Should I buy a GPS or trust on the old fasion maps.
I have read many travelling stories about taking the wrong road. And they always seems to be up-hill. I think it is hard to read the route book in the rain, going with 50km/hrs down hill. You miss easily a turn.
With a GPS I can relax more, enjoy the landscapes and not worry about the route.
However a GPS with the software is costing around 400 euro. Buying it now on the internet in the UK, I can make use of the low GBP and save a few bucks. A pilgrim must not throw away money.
I still had doubts, it is a lot of money compared to all other gear. Finally my collegue made a good remark, he said; "400 euro, that is only 8 euro per travelling day".
So yes, I've got one.The pilgrim route from Haarlem to Santiago is available to upload in my GPS. Some adjustements to change the route with departure in Geleen and off I go.
